Hallo,
ich habe vor ein paar Tagen meine Schalmei-Sats fertig gebaut.
Was soll ich sagen: Das Klangergebnis hat meine Vorstellung übertroffen.
Solch eine Räumlichkeit habe ich bisher nur bei Oris-Hörnern gehört.
Die LS haben mitlerweile ca. 40 Betriebsstunden.

Während dieser Zeit hat sich die Klangqualität drastisch verbessert.
Ich hätte nie gedacht, daß es so deutlich zu hören ist.
Die Fostex FE206E sollen laut Aussage anderer Besitzer
ca. 300 Std. brauchen bis sie komplett eingespielt sind.
Der Klang hat aber jetzt schon eine Güte, die man gehört
haben muß, um es sich vorstellen zu können.
Die absoluten Stärken der LS sind ganz klar die schier
unglaubliche Räumlichkeit, die den Sänger mitten im
Raum aus dem Wohnzimmerschrank singen lässt und
die Schnelligkeit der Fostex-Breitbänder, die eine glasklare
Auflösung im Schalmei-Gehäuse erreichen. Die Fostex
können ihr ganzes Potential ausspielen, da sie komplett
ohne Weichenbauteile ab ca. 100 Herz aufwärts linear spielen.
Kombiniert mit einem feinen Röhrenverstärker bieten die
Schalmei-Sats ein livehaftiges Hörerlebnis wie in einem
Konzert.
Ich kann jedem nur empfehlen diese LS zu bauen, denn
solche LS kann man nirgendwo kaufen!

The horns work better than I thought, looking at them, the mouths seem small and the horn path
short but they do work quite well. I have been playing them alone without subs and they sound
like they go down to ~130 cycles so its not too bad without the subs. I like them, I get the
wonderful B200 tone with the added dynamics provided by the horn loading.
I will be keeping them (I build several speakers per year to experiment with) and have already
bought mahogany veneer to put on them.
I have only used a PP eL34 amp so far but have several other amps and will be using my Truepath
amp (41hz.com) on the weekend with them.

The board I get here is made by a company called "cellotex" (sp). Its also known as "hushboard"
and probably other names as well. It looks similar to mdf that got wet and expanded and breaks
pretty easily. Its sole pupose in the Schalmei Sat and many other German designs is for damping.
The Schalmei Sat works great! When I looked it over and saw the B200 I thought no way but it
works a treat. Horst also recommends the Fostex 206. One would think thats a bit of a spread of
speaker parameters but I'll take his word for it.
The folding is ingenius. It either took lots of thought or just came as a brainwave I think. The horn
mouths appear too small and the horn path a bit short to me but again it works. It is a double
horn which is also bifurcated. It is as the name implies used as a satellite speaker with a sub
to do the bass. It rolls off to my ears somewhere ~130 to 150 cycles, horn action probably up
to ~700 cycles.
If you are familiar to the B200 sound, think of the same tone but with multiplied dynamics,
the horn loading at work.

Musikwiedergabe, denn was aus den Kisten raus kommt passt einfach und macht einen
höllischen Spaß obs nun elektronische Musik ist die sich auch auf Zimmerlautstärke
einfach super anhört oder du drehst mal voll auf und läßt die Sau raus, was die Teile
auch richtig können." -
